Corporate Headshot of the week - February 11, 2014

Here is the headshot of the week. Jennifer is Director of Sales for Oracle. Took this headshot with my mobile studio onsite at their sales kick off meeting. The objective of this shoot was to get a consistent, professional presence throughout the sales team on LinkedIn. The results were amazing and the sales teams improved their presence on LinkedIn which also gave a boost in brand as well. I'm a realist, no filters or crazy color adjustments. Clean is what I'm all about.

Family portrait shoot - Lafayette, CA

Had a wonderful portrait session last weekend with a family in the Happy Valley neighborhood of Lafayette. The homes there are beautiful and well kept. When I do get a chance to shoot in such a nice area I make sure to catch some shots of them in their neighborhood. Two shots I love to do are a street walking shot, and a porch sitting shot. Here are those two shots I did for the family.

The South of Marketplace Holiday Fair - San Francisco CA

Two of my good friends, Shawn and Katya, are putting on a wonderful event for the bay area art community. The South of Marketplace Holiday Fair is a curated holiday craft fair featuring local handmade goods from San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area. While a holiday craft fair is not a new idea, Shawn and Katya wanted to give more artisans a chance to share their goods. At the SOM Holiday fair, you will find a blend of crafts, prints, apparel and yummy treats giving you a wide range of goodies to support both local artisans and chefs. Dress up and get silly in a fun photo booth provided by SmileBooth. You'll also have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win great prizes while supporting a local charity.

When: Dec. 15, 2013
Where: Folsom Street Foundry - 1425 Folsom Street, San Francisco, CA 94103
Why: You love art.

If you are interested in being a vendor please go to The South of Marketplace Holiday Fair website for more information.

I'll be shooting both stills and video of the event so stay tuned for that.

The Foundry in San Francisco part 2 - time lapse

I finally had some time to piece together the time lapse footage I captured at the Foundry in San Francisco during an event a couple weeks back. I timed it to take a photo every 3 seconds for 4 hours. It came out to 6,472 photos. Producing time lapse footage is pretty intense. Lots of minutes waiting to render a crazy amount of images. But if you catch the right shot it's totally worth it. Next time around I'm gonna try outdoors with my tilt shift lens during either sunrise or sunset. I also want to include time lapse footage of wedding ceremonies in the slide show that comes standard in my top two wedding photography packages. Can't wait to share the first one with you.

Half Moon Bay, CA - Ritz Carlton

Half Moon Bay is probably the best kept secret in the Bay Area. Most of the year it's foggy but every so often we get a heat wave that makes Half Moon Bay one of the most beautiful spots in Northern California. This is an ideal location for a luxury wedding or special event. The Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay is ranked among the top resorts in the country. And let me tell you... it really is. There are two world-class golf courses on either side of the resort. Ocean Course is a links style course that has ocean views from 14 of the 18 holes. The Old Course is your classic California-style course with the best closing holes in the world (See picture below). I'm hoping to shoot a wedding there soon.

Family portrait shoot in Lafayette

I had the pleasure last weekend of having a portrait shoot with a family who actually lives on the same street I live on. Love Lafayette! Love Lamorinda! My commute time was 1:16 minutes... fastest ever. Their adorable 2 year old is named Charlotte. I actually met her before I met her parents. She was the very first friend my daughter, Sammie, made at First Steps Learning Center. Charlotte has moved on to pre-school so it was so nice to see her again. For the many who have shot portraits of children between the ages of 2-5, you know it's no easy task. Both Eric and Melissa was great in getting Charlotte to smile at the perfect moment. It's great when you get to work with such a nice family. Here are a few of my favorite shots from that day.

The Foundry in San Francisco

I had a shoot in San Francisco last Friday at a venue called The Foundry. This place is incredible. Not only for events but for photo shoots. It has an industrial feel to it with a slight twist of classic. The ceiling is lined up with sky lights which brings in plenty of natural light. There is also a ton of classic furniture you could use for props, perfect for a bourdoir photo shoot. I'm good with the guys who runs the place and agreed to help them with imagery in trade for studio space for shoots. Planning my first shoot there in a month so stay tune for those pictures.

Here are some of the pictures I took that day.

Shot of the week - Oct. 9, 2013

This shot came from a portrait shoot I did at the Piedmont Community Center. If you never been you should check it out. It's a photographers haven to take portraits. Lots of open space, trees, shade, and even some waterfalls. This kid, Max, was all for getting his picture taken. All I asked him was to sit up on the fountain next to his sister, instead he got right in. Made for a cool picture. Canon 5D Mark III, 24-70mm 2.8 L.

Mission Ranch, Carmel CA - Tilt shift

An outing with my 45mm tilt shift lens. The wife and I decided to get away for a night which was well long over due. Being the perfect wife she is, she did her research and found this gem called Mission Ranch. Only three blocks away from the downtown area of Carmel. If you have never been it is a must. The entire time we were there you can see three whales herding in the distance. It was too far for any lens I brought to get a clear picture of but it was incredible. Here are some pictures I took. Canon 5D Mark III with a 45mm 2.8 Tilt Shift lens. A fun lens to have. Hope you enjoy.
